In a variable optical signal-branching device for optical waveguides, said device is provided with a transparent surface section extending along a directrix. It is possible to displace along this surface section an optical fibre whose tip rests on the transparent surface section and picks up light information emerging from the optical magnitude and conducts it away. The optical waveguide can be arranged in the shape of a helix on a drum or in the shape of a spiral on a disc.
