<p>A technique and device for cutting off the flow of blood through an unwanted opening in a major blood vessel to facilitate surgical closure of the opening. The device utilized to accomplish this technique comprises a catheter (10) having dual balloons (30A and 30B) axially separated from one another (as at 32) and inflated thorugh lumen (14). The catheter (10) is inserted into a blood vessel (V) and positioned such that the balloons (30A, 30B) are located on opposite sides of opening (W) whereupon they are inflated blocking flow therethrough.</p> |
