<p>The photovoltaic cells are secured and protected by a transparent elastomeric layer (12) made by cold extrusion before curing and applied against the cells under a slight pressure so that it penetrates the gaps between the cells, and then cured by heating, e.g. at 110oC or 180oC, owing to the presence of incorporated peroxides.
