The hook has two grips (12,14), each respectively arranged at the end of a common shank (11), each situated in the same plane, but each extending in opposite directions with respect to the shank. The first grip, the head grip, allows the engagement of the hook on a roof timber (13) while the second or foot grip (14) allows the fixing of the slate (15). The head grip has a section (17) square to the shank (11), and a section (18), the bearing piece, that has a rounded part (19) to grip the roof timber extending over part of its length parallel to the shank.
