A cylinder head (1) for water-cooled internal combustion engines is provided with a partition wall (2) of preformed sheet metal which, together with the cylinder head base (3), peripheral walls (4 and 5) and internal components (inlet port 6 and exhaust port 7) passing through the partition wall, defines a bottom water space (8). The partition wall (2) has outlets (10 and 11) for the passage of cooling water from the lower water space (8) into an upper water space (9). The partition wall (2) is deformed towards the cylinder head base (3) opposite thermally highly-stressed areas (valve webs 12) of the cylinder head base (3). <IMAGE>
