In order, in a bobbin safeguard for spinning and twisting spindles, to guarantee reliable axial and radial retention, ensure good and centric guidance of the bobbin and allow uncomplicated handling in the fitting and removal of the bobbin, the lower adaptor (1) is made axially displaceable counter to the force of the spring (1') and the releasable adaptor (2) is provided with at least two holding segments (4) which can be swung out radially and which are prestressed by a spring (3). The holding segments (4) each carry a catch pin (6) which is arranged in the region of the spindle core (7) and which, when the adaptor (2) is pressed into the bobbin tube (5), catches in a groove (8) of the spindle core (7) and secures the bobbin tube (5) axially. <IMAGE>
