Stock material for building up reinforced zones on shoes is made by dry blending fibres with a particulate adhesive and subsequently consolidating and curing the blend to form a strip or sheet material which may be cut to appropriate shapes for direct lamination on to the shoe body. The sheet may be of constant or varying thickness, may have a superficial texture or cover on one or both faces. Used for build-up around the backs or tops of shoes. Requires less energy overall than hot and/or wet techniques for impregnating coherent fabrics with liq. or particulate adhesives. The fibres may be vegetable, metal, mineral or synthetic.
|
