The invention has created an electronic keyboard which is generally intended as a link between man and machine. It consists of a freely programmable imaging array where the actual allocation of the individual key elements is represented and can be seen through the mainly transparent sensor array. The desired characters or images are selected by activating an element of the sensor array, the connected processor providing the corresponding image in coded form at its output.
