A security device for monitoring a lock, such as a block lock, against drilling of the profile cylinder, having an electromechanical transducer which is fitted on the lock and, in the event of drilling of the profile cylinder, passes electrical signals to a downstream evaluation circuit, which determines those signal frequencies which are typical for tampering such as drilling, the evaluation circuit if applicable emitting an output signal which is suitable for giving an alarm.
