Traffic light installation for controlling pedestrian traffic, in which in addition to the optical display device for the "green" and the "red" phases there is also provided an acoustic transducer which is constructed as a sound reproduction device, and in which in addition to or instead of the sound reproduction device a pictorial reproduction device is provided. In the "green" phase, it can be announced by such a device how long the "green" phase will further last. The "red" phase can be supplemented by acoustic advice to wait. The pictorial reproduction device can optically supplement the information to be conveyed during both phases.
