<p>The method of forming a carrier bag includes making an open topped envelope with pleats along bottom and sides and making cut-outs through the two sides. These cut-outs are in pairs through each side, one above the other, in the form of slots through which the fingers can be inserted. When the top of the envelope is folded over, all four cut-outs are in line for insertion of the fingers so that the folded part which is strong enough to support light loads, can be gripped. The folded over part can carry a reinforcing panel giving a stronger grip, the depth of the fold being selected to match the size of the hand. Other designs use a handle which grips the folded over edge. To reinforce the folded part, a self adhesive strip may be attached to the interior of one side along the top edge.</p> |
