The system provides automatic synchronisation between driven and secondary shafts during gear changes while braking, removing the need for 'heel and toe' driving while reducing shock on the transmission. Electrical transducers connected to the brake, clutch and crankshaft (to detect the min. speed) give signals which are accepted by an AND gate giving an output signal when all three inputs are present. The output signal is passed through an adjustable delay circuit giving an output which is both delayed and of adjustable duration. The output signal is amplified, and the amplifier drives an electromagnet which operates a link to the throttle, raising the engine speed to that required to match a lower gear, then restoring throttle control to normal.
|
