<p>The marine vessel has two rotating floats, on either side. These are used both to propel and steer it. Each float (1,2) has a helical driving blade (7,8) and is supported on a structure of stays (13,14) and bearing supports, and a platform (15). The floats are cylindrical, streamlined ends (3-6). The blade pitches (7,8) are symmetrical. A rear mounted engine (16) drives through grooved pulleys (17,18) and belts (19,20) to pulleys (21,22) on the float shafts. Steering is effected by stopping the rotation of one float. Reversing is effected by reversing float rotation.</p> |
