The process of forming cardboard cartons uses a corrugated paper sheet (A) to act as a core between two flat outer sheets (B,C) to form a strong composite sheet used as a base material from which the cartons are made. After the core sheet has been corrugated, it is passed through a bath and coated with adhesive on one side. The first outer layer is applied, and the other side is then adhesively coated, and the second outer layer applied. The composite sheet is passed through a heating tunnel to harden the adhesive, but before it is completely set, grooves (D) are formed across it to form fold lines. The adhesive is a mixture of starch and water of a specified composition.
|
