The invention relates to a high-temperature blower for use, in particular, for annealing furnaces. Due to the offset design of the connection flange of the impeller, it is possible to extend the hollow shaft and hence the distance for heat transfer without increasing the overall length of the blower as far as the front side of the impeller. By virtue of the fact that the plane of gravity of the impeller is in the vicinity of the plane of fixing, a favourable load distribution is furthermore obtained, with the result that the impeller can be provided with point support on the hollow shaft and fixing at one flange is sufficient. The transfer cross-section of heat transfer from the impeller to the hollow shaft is correspondingly small. Finally, the hollow shaft can be surrounded with a jacket which provides protection against heat, the jacket for its part being covered by a sleeve as a shield. Thus, overall, only a small amount of heat is transferred from the impeller to the hollow shaft. The thermal loading of the bearing of the hollow shaft is correspondingly low.
