The connector is intended to link cylindrical cables which have a number of fibres spaced around a central core. The connector includes two support blocks (3a,3b) each of which has grooves along its two edges. The grooves receive half of two cylindrical rods serving to align the two blocks. A clip surrounds these blocks holding the cylindrical rods in place. Each block has a set of parallel grooves in its upper surface in which the fibres (2a) lie. A further spring clip (360) holds the two support blocks together longitudinally. The fibres are glued into place and upper and lower shells are fitted around the assembled block in order to provide protection.
