The present invention relates to a novel process for the preparation of dibenzoxepine derivatives of the formula <IMAGE> by reaction of a compound of the formula <IMAGE> with a phenol of the formula <IMAGE> to give a compound of the formula <IMAGE> followed by cyclisation of this compound using customary methods.
