The amusement device of the rotating wheel type employs a number of rotatable wheels having indicia. The wheels are rotated by the player and are arrested at random. When certain random combinations of indicia are aligned after the wheels are arrested, a win condition is sensed and the player receives a reward. The wheels are driver by a horizontal drive shaft (40) through a clutch (50) which is rotatable through a drive stroke less than 180 deg. A drive crank (150) has a notch which engages a crank drive pawl (160) which is pivotally mounted on the clutch.
