Test method for detecting discontinuities in metallic layers of bodies composed of at least two metallic materials. The object of the invention is to detect discontinuities in metallic outer layers and to make possible as simple and continuous monitoring of the material quality as possible. According to the objective, a defective outer layer is detected by means of electromotive force. According to the invention, the part to be examined in the body under test is passed through one or more electrolytic solutions in which a counterelectrode is immersed at the same time, and the electrical potential between said electrode and the test piece is continuously measured and a potential change on immersing a flaw is evaluated as an indicator. The invention can be applied in the electrical industry and in the metal-working industry.
