In an apparatus for surface treatments under water by means of a blasting agent, which together with a pressurized gas flow is sprayed against the surface via a flexible line 8 with a manually guided outlet nozzle 9, a shunt connection 30 for the pressurized gas, connected in parallel with a blasting agent container 20, is inserted between the pressurized gas source 1 and the line 4, 8, so that the line 4, 8 and the outlet nozzle 9 can at all times be kept free of water, even if there are intervals when no blasting agent is be delivered to the place of working 41. The pressure in this shunt connection 30 can be automatically adjusted to a pressure that is slightly greater than the water pressure by means of a sensor line 36 having a pressure gauge 38, which regulates the pressure of the pressurized gas as a function of the water pressure at the place of working 41. Finally, at the actual place of working 41 there may be a remote control 51, 52, 53, by means of which the diver can start and stop the inflow of blasting agent in the pressurized gas line 4, thereby reducing the consumption of blasting agent. <IMAGE>
