For emptying bulk material, consisting e.g. of coffee, from coffee sacks into containers or other large receptacles, holders, preferably in the form of grates, are provided, which, after opening of the sacks, allow the coffee to fall into the large receptacle but on the other hand retain the sacks. The bulk material can be brought over the pouring opening of the large receptacle by lifting device carriages and unloaded. There can also be arranged on the ceiling of lorry receptacles loading grates, stationary or movable and expediently accessible or combined with a ceiling gangway and a protective canopy. Instead of loading grates, holders for goods to be loaded can also be provided, for suspending the bulk material packages, which retain the packaging on emptying.
