Pneumatic or hydraulic multiple tandem cylinder, in particular for clamping, punching and certain press uses, which is characterised by especially small installation dimensions and especially high force as well as insensitivity to eccentricities, which could appear during production and assembly of the cylinder. The favourable ratio of force to installation dimensions also enables the pneumatic construction to be used for clamping purposes on cutting machines or for punching work in industrial sectors, where hitherto only the use of hydraulic cylinders was possible.
