PURPOSE:To improve the quality of slow reproducing picture and still reproducing picture, by setting track widths of two heads which are arranged on a rotary cylinder, to prescribed values to reduce the noise which is generated when a magnetic tape is fed intermittently and is reproduced. CONSTITUTION:Track widths H1 and H2 of rotary heads 12 and 13 arranged on the rotary cylinder are set to satisfy an inequalityI. In this inequalityI, K is the length between the lowest part of the track recorded with the width H2 and that recorded with the width H1, and PT is the width of a track recorded on the tape in case of K=0. Tv/Tt indicates the proportion of the vertical blanking time in one field of the TV signal, and (a) indicates an allowable proportion (%) of the noise. D is the variance of the extent of intermittent tape transportation, and beta is the angle of inclination of the track, and PT' is the length in the direction of the breadth of the track in the part where heads 12 and 13 trace obliquely to generate the noise. Thus, the noise generated when the tape is fed intermittently and is reproduced is reduced. |
