For the efficient use of cargo ships, it is necessary to adapt the cargo space or the deck of the same to different loads. To transport containers on board such multi-purpose ships, fastening means are required which permit safe stowage of containers of different size. To this end, the invention proposes a collapsible cellular structure of perpendicular cell posts (14) which can be locked in perpendicular planes along or across the ship axis by means of cross-struts (18, 19, 20) and tensioning ropes (24). In this arrangement, perpendicular guide surfaces (26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33) on the cell posts (14) of the cellular structure serve to guide and secure the position of the containers located on board. <IMAGE>
