The invention relates to an unrolling device for lap rolls. It consists of at least one pair of supporting arms which receive the roll core between them in the axial direction and which are arranged displaceably relative to one another for clamping the lap roll and for releasing the roll core. The supporting arms are, at the same time, arranged displaceably on a horizontal beam in the axial direction of the latter. The beam is guided at each of the two ends on a stand so as to be vertically displaceable by means of a lifting drive by the amount of a stroke height which is greater than half the diameter of the lap roll plus the diameter of the roll core. <IMAGE>
