The invention relates to a bag for waste, refuse or the like which can be inserted into a waste container with a lid. In order to prevent the underside of the container lid and the hinge region thereof from coming into contact with the waste and hence forming seats of infection, provision is made for the bag to have a hood which is connected, by part of its aperture edge, to a corresponding part of the aperture edge of the bag itself. In its position of use, the hood is so oriented that it points transversely to the bag aperture and thus, when the bag is inserted in the waste container, can be pushed onto the lid. The bag preferably consists of a section of tubular film, closed at both ends, which in its longitudinal extent has a separating cut extending over part of its width. The part lying to one side of this separating cut can be inverted and then performs the function of the abovementioned hood.
