摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a constitution which determines whether resetting of a threshold value is performed or not with respect to an eyelid opening/closing characteristic amount used for detecting sleepiness by considering the necessity of the resetting when driving is interrupted, in a sleepiness detection device for detecting sleepiness of a driver of a vehicle during the driving.SOLUTION: An eyelid opening/closing characteristic amount is sequentially calculated from time-series data on a time interval of the transition, that is sequentially detected, between an open state and a closed state of an eyelid. A threshold value is set by using the eyelid opening/closing characteristic amount obtained over a prescribed period. When the eyelid opening/closing characteristic amount departs from a range defined by the threshold value, it is determined that a subject feels sleepiness. In restarting of driving after the interruption of the driving of the vehicle, whether resetting of the threshold value is performed or not is determined based on a state of the subject before the restarting of the driving. When it is determined to perform the resetting of the threshold value, the threshold value is set by using the eyelid opening/closing characteristic amount obtained over a prescribed period after the restarting of the driving.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
