Animal waste comprising animal dung, urine and water is an obnoxious waste on the farm which is difficult and expensive to remove. It can be separated into solids and liquid fractions, whereby the solids can be spread and the liquid sprayed on the land. Another obnoxious and inconvenient waste is vegetable solids, especially from potatoes. It has now been found that the separated animal waste solids and the vegetable waste solids can be broken down into a product of fine tilth and peat-like appearance by the action of earthworms, preferably of the species Eisenia foetida, Dendrobaena veneta, Eudrilus eugeniae or Perionyx excavatus. |
