There is a flywheel energy store in which a flywheel (6, 8) which can rotate is seated on a vertical shaft (9), and a bearing of the flywheel is provided. In this case, it is desirable for the level of utilisation of the stored movement energy to be improved in that the bearing of the flywheel is improved, using simple means, by reducing the friction losses. This is achieved in that the flywheel is constructed as a magnetic ring structure (6) and a spacer (8) located between said structure and the shaft (1), and a magnetic bearing of the magnetic ring structure (6), which can rotate, is provided on a further, horizontal magnetic ring structure (2) which is arranged concentrically thereto. As a result of the use of the magnetic bearing, when the flywheel is set in rotation with a specific supplied energy, it can rotate for very much longer than when it is only on mechanical bearings. <IMAGE> |
