A swimming pool which can be installed in a room of a building, for example in a basement, has a housing closed off on all sides and made of a watertight material, the lower area of which serves as a basin for receiving the water. A closable access opening is formed in the housing above the water level. The closed housing can be made of a suitable, watertight material, for example a fibre-reinforced plastic. To simplify transport, the housing can be formed from several individual parts which are firmly connected to one another at the installation site of the swimming pool.
