In a fluidised bed reactor having vertically running heat exchanger tubes, which are connected to one another at their lower ends in pairs, in the fluidised layer, the execution of the chemical and/or physical process in the fluidised layer is improved by the tube pairs having tube sections which run directly adjacent to one another, at least in the region of their lower connecting points, and a tube connector which connects the lower ends of the tube sections and runs at right angles to the latter.
