DRIVE FOR DRAFTING ARRANGEMENT ROLLS OF LONG SPINNING MACHINES

A long spinning machine has sliver draft rolls which extend over the whole length of the machine, the rolls being driven from one end employing gears which give roll speed differences to effect drafting. The other ends of the rolls are connected by a drive transmission which includes a slipping clutch for allowing different roll speeds during drafting, but which positively interconnects the rolls during standstill, to oppose start-up torque distortion of the rolls.
