PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical article that can be more effectively supported and/or more conformable for application to irregular surfaces, and particularly those associated with a joint, such as a knee, ankle or elbow, and particularly in wound therapy applications.SOLUTION: Provided are a flexible backing layer 14 having an opening to form a window, a first adhesive coated on the backing layer, a carrier 37 releasably attached to the backing layer, a second adhesive 21 contact-coated on an outer peripheral portion of the backing layer window, a liner releasably adhered to the second adhesive, and a self-supporting substrate 12 including a side wall in the form of a flange. The self-supporting substrate is attached to the second adhesive of the backing layer to surround the backing layer window such that the self-supporting layer is held at a predetermined position on a wound.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6 |
