To make it possible to fix the binding strips (17) for bales (20) which are produced by waste presses (1), use is made of a perforated bar (23), the perforations (23a) of which on the one hand guide the bands (17) coming from the supply reels (21) in each case and on the other hand fix said bands, even during the pressing operation, by the forming of loops (S). This perforated bar (23) is at the same time guided in supports (24) on the rear side (12) of the press and acts jointly on all the bands or binding strips (17) necessary depending on the width of the particular bale (20). <IMAGE>
