A method of manufacturing an arthroplasty jig is disclosed herein. The method may include the following: generate two dimensional image data of a patient joint to undergo arthroplasty, identify in the two dimensional image data a first point corresponding to an articular surface of a bone forming the joint, identify a second point corresponding to an articular surface of an implant, identify a location of a resection plane when the first point is correlated with the second point, and create the arthroplasty jig with a resection guide located according to the identified location of the resection plane. |

1. A method of preparing a bone of a patient for implantation of an implant as part of an arthroplasty procedure, the method comprising:
preoperatively planning the arthroplasty procedure on the bone of the patient, the preoperative planning including: causing a first location on a condylar surface of a three dimensional computer model of the bone and a second location on a condylar surface of a three dimensional computer model of the implant to positionally correspond in a computer coordinate system, the first location being similar to the second location with respect to condylar region; and computer defining a resection of the bone when the first and second locations positionally correspond in the computer coordinate system; and compiling the computer defined resection of the bone into the form of computer data. |
