The thread-cutting tool is provided with worm gearing which is accommodated in a head ring housing. It is covered with a heat-insulating material at its end faces as well as at the circumferential surface. This prevents excessive heating of the head ring housing during work. In addition, it covers the parting line between two housing parts of the head ring housing. The heat-insulating material also covers any joint misalignment at this parting line as well as edges or burrs on the head ring housing.
