The d.c. voltage supplied to the electrodes of the separator is set to a first or basic level upon which are superimposed a number in each case two or more voltage pulses forming a pulse group, consecutive pulses being separated from each other chronologically. - The pulse generator is arranged to generate a number of pulses making up a pulse group where the first pulse in a group exhibits an amptitude, form and duration such that it will not cause the dust separator to flash over but will produce an increase in the inclination to flash over. - The immediately following pulse in the pulse group has an amptitude, form and duration selected such that it will not cause flashover in spite of the increased inclination to flashover caused by the preceding pulse and so on.(2/7) |
