A screen for a screen sound damper has two covering walls, between which there is arranged a filling of a sound-damping material (10), covered on its outer sides. The end faces of the screens, which lie parallel to the direction of oncoming flow, are closed by means of covering sheets (11). The covering sheets (11) have flanged edge butt straps (12), which can be hammered into an interlocking joint (15). The interlocking joint (15) has a plurality of legs (16, 17, 18) which lie substantially parallel to one another and of which two (17, 18) delimit a gap (20) open in the direction of the edge of the covering walls (1). The edge butt straps (12) of the covering sheets (11) are hammered into this gap (20), for example manually by means of a hammer, after which the covering sheets (11) are arranged firmly on the covering walls (1). For additional securing of the covering sheets (11), an edge strip (21), arranged on the leg (18) of the interlocking joint (15), may be flanged until it lies on the outside of the covering sheets (11). <IMAGE>
