The bead cores, wound from a plurality of wire layers, for vehicle pneumatic tyres are subjected to various processing operations, such as, for example, impregnation and winding with textiles, before installation in the tyre blank. An important operation in this is the covering with the profile strips of vulcanisable rubber which are necessary for the continuous incorporation in the rest of the layer structure of the tyres and which hitherto, however, have always caused a break in the work sequence and have made necessary laborious manual work. By contrast, the aim of the invention is the production of the core rings from the winding of the wire layers through to lay-up of the profile strips in a continuous operation without the necessity of manual intervention. This is achieved by introducing slit carrier rings on which the core rings are built up and on which they are passed through all the intended work stations.
