<p>Method for eliminating fog from the atmosphere by spraying a reactant into a fog-laden atmosphere; it is characterized in that the treatment comprises the spraying of a finely divided substance which, with the water droplets causing the fog turbidity, separates a gas reaction product by an exothermal, preferably chemical, reaction. Metal carbides, preferably calcium carbide, are used in a preferred form of execution; their grain size is smaller than 0.3 mm, preferably 0.15 mm. Organic substances containing hydrogen and nitrogen, for example azane, diazane, triazane or tetraazane, azene, diazene, triazene or tetraazene, azoic or diazoic methane, formic acid, methyl hydrazine, oxalic acid, dimethylperoxide, in pure form or as a salt, may also be used. As make-up substances, are used substances which bind the water by hydrolysis and/or hydration in an exothermal reaction, for example sodium sulfate free of cristallization water, sodium hydrophosphate, sodium carbonate, barium oxide, silicon chloride, in a quantity up to 65 % by weight, preferably between 15 and 35 % by weight, and/or substances which are indifferent to water and which may be used as buffer substances for the reaction, for example alkali or alkaline-earth carbonates, such as calcium or sodium carbonate. The substance, respectively the substance mixture, is sprayed with dry air or dry inert gas. </p> |
