Melted slag, immediately that it emerges from a smelting or refining oven, is transferred to a container 6 on a wagon 8 and transported to a first heat recovery station 2. Here, a fluid is heated up by radiant heat from the slag, while the slag is tumbled and granulated by means of a rotating device 17. After granulation the slag is transferred by means of a bucket elevator 3 to a second heat recovery station 4, where the heat remaining in the slag is used to heat up air by convection. The resulting heated air is passed to consuming sources, eg. a steam generator 50, from which the cooled air is returned to the second heat recovery station 4 to be heated up again. A part of the cooled, granulated slag is returned by means of a transporter 30 from the second heat recovery station 4 to the empty container 6 in the first heat recovery station in order to form a lining in the container 6 and protect the same against melted slag and overheating. <IMAGE> |
