A heat exchanger for a condensing or evaporating medium, e.g. coolant, and a medium without phase transition has a housing (1) in which flow paths (6, 9) are provided for the two media and which are separated from one another by filling (11), which as a rule has fins (10) or grooves and through which the heat that is to be transferred flows due to thermal conduction. So that as large as possible a surface of the heat exchanger is used for the phase transition, the flow path (9) for the medium without phase transition is subdivided into a multiplicity of relatively short component flow paths (14) to which approximately the same quantity of medium is applied. The component flow paths (14) are led parallel to one another in the housing (1) due to the construction and arrangement of the filling (11) which transfers the heat. The faces of the filling (11) which delimit the component flow paths (14) with respect to one another are approximately of the same size in order to achieve constant temperatures along the flow path (6) of the medium with phase transition.
