PURPOSE:To improve the exactness in the length of a broken line and to improve the stability in line shape by reversing the tangential speed direction of the coating roll of a centrifugal coater provided with a shutter performing a prescribed operation and the advancing direction of painting. CONSTITUTION:A material to be coated is disposed in the direction opposite from the tangential speed direction of a painting roll R of a centrifugal coater rotating clockwise with respect to said roll. The painter is moved toward the right and the part (b) having a low ejection density is covered with a shutter S provided beneath the roll R and the shutter is fully opened in the position moved further therfrom. The shutter is fully shut upon stopping and the application of a broken line is completed.
