PURPOSE:To prepare the titled composition giving a coating film having excellent water resistance and flexibility, and useful for the coating of automobile, industrial machinery, steel furniture, electrical appliances, etc., by compounding a specific etherified benzoguanamine resin with a water-soluble or water-dispersible resin at a specific ratio. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition can be obtained by compounding (A) 5-50pts.wt. of an etherified benzoguanamine resin which is a benzoguanamine resin etherified with methanol and ethylene glycol and having 0.5-3.5 ethylene glycol units bonded to one benzoguanamine nucleus with (B) 95-50pts.wt. of a water-soluble or water-dispersible resin (e.g. a resin obtained by adding 0.3- 1.2mol of monopropylamine to an alkyd resin having an acid value of 20-100 and hydroxyl group value of 15-200, based on 1 equivalent of the acid group of the alkyd resin).
