PURPOSE:To provide a thermoplastic resin composition having improved impact strength without lowering the heat deformation temperature, by compounding a maleimide copolymer with a specific graft copolymer. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition is prepared by compounding (A) 50- 95pts.wt., preferably 60-92pts.wt. of a maleimide copolymer with (B) 5- 50pts.wt., preferably 8-40pts.wt. of a graft copolymer obtained by polymerizing (i) 80-10pts.wt. of a monomer mixture composed of 0.05-40wt% of an unsaturated glycidyl monomer and 99.95-60wt% of a vinyl monomer copolymerizable therewith in the presence of (ii) 20-90pts.wt. of a rubber polymer. The sum of the components A and B is 100pts.wt. Addition of an organic sulfonic acid and a sulfuric acid ester to the composition is preferable. The component (A) is preferably the one obtained by the dehydrative imide cyclization reaction of an alpha,beta-unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydride copolymer with ammonia, etc.
