The invention relates to a method and an installation for cleaning, wet steeping and dry steeping cereal grains as a preliminary step for continuous malting. According to the inventive method, the grains, preferably coming from day cells, continuously pass through the following stages in any order: weighing, sieving, chafing, separating the light material, sorting, washing, scouring and wet and dry steeping. The invention is characterised in that the detention times for the wet steeping and dry steeping phases can be set during the course of the process and are then maintained for the rest of the process. The flow of steeped material so prepared can then be conveyed to a production unit for continuous malting. |
