PURPOSE:An algicidal coating material, containing a specific urea based compound as an active constituent, having high safety for toxicity, and reducing slightly the algicidal effect. CONSTITUTION:An algicidal coating material containing a urea based compound of formula I (R1 and R2 are H, CH3, OCH3, group of formula II or III; X1 and X2 are H, CH3 or halogen), e.g. 3-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)1,1-dimethylurea of formula IVor 3-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-1-methoxy-1-methylurea, in an amount of preferably 5-50% (in the solid content in a coating material) in the coating material.
