PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium which is improved in the durability of a coating layer and decreased in drop-out by incorporating a silicone oil having a low viscosity and carbon black having a specific average particle size or below. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic layer is incorporated therein with a silicone oil having a low viscosity and carbon black having <=50mmu average particle size. The more preferable size is <=30mmu and the much more preferable size is <=20mmu. The amt. of the carbon black to be used is preferably 100-50,000pts. wt., more preferably 500-10,000pts.wt. by 100pts.wt. the silicone oil having a low viscosity. The pulverous ferromagnetic powder to be used is gamma-Fe2O3, Co-contg. gamma-Fe2O3, Fe3O4, Co-contg. Fe3O4, CrO2, Co-Ni-P alloy, Co-Ni-Fe alloy, flat plate- like Ba ferrite, etc. |
