PURPOSE:To obtain the titled polymer useful as an agent for improving the dispersibility of fine powder of a reinforcing agent, filler, magnetic substance or the like, by reacting a specified alkali metal-containing liquid unsaturated polymer with a (thio)benzophenone. CONSTITUTION:A conjugated diene monomer is polymerized or copolymerized with a monomer copolymerizable therewith in the presence of an alkali metal- based catalyst (e.g., ethyllithium) to obtain an alkali metal-containing liquid unsaturated polymer with a number-average MW >=500, comprising a liquid conjugated diene polymer having bonded alkali metal atoms on the molecular terminals. This unsaturated polymer is reacted with a (thio)benzophenone of the formula (wherein M is O or S, R1 and R2 are each H or a substituent, and m+n=1-10) at room temperature -100 deg.C for several sec - several hr.
