REMOVAL METHOD OF HARD TO DECOMPOSE NITROGEN COMPOUND IN WASTE WATER

PURPOSE:To remove the nitrogen compd. in waste water from a wet method of desulfurization and denitration treatments for waste gas with a simple operation by dipping nitrite ion electrode into said waste water and decomposing the hard to decompose nitrogen compd. under conditions of <=6pH and 0-80 deg.C. CONSTITUTION:A nitrite ion electrode is dipped in the waste water contg. hard to decompse nitrogen compd. generated by subjecting waste gas to a wet method of desulfurization and denitration treatments. While the amt. of the nitrite ion to be added is controlled by the above-described nitrite ion electrode, the hard to decompose nitrogen compd. is decomposed by the nitrite ion under conditions of <=6pH and 0-80 deg.C. The free fluorine ion existing much in said waste water to be treated hinders the measurement of the nitrite ion and therefore metallic aluminum or aluminum salt is preliminarily added thereto under an acidic condition to effect a reaction by which said ion is complexed to hexafluoroaluminum ion, etc. to prevent hindrance.
